Say Goodbye to Back Acne with AviClear Laser Treatment
If you’ve had a treatment plan built at LUSH, there’s a good chance LED Light Therapy has made an appearance. Maybe it was added in between your skin needling or laser treatments, recommended as a standalone course, or maybe you’ve had it, loved how relaxing it was, and thought, “That was nice, but what was it doing?”
Fair question. While Healite II (our LED technology of choice) feels like a warm, luxurious nap, a lot is happening beneath the surface that your skin is very grateful for.
Space-grade technology. Lunch-hour vibes.
NASA originally developed LED light therapy to support wound healing and astronaut health in space and has been used in clinical skin care and post-surgical healing for years. This is not a ring light with ambition. The Healite II delivers precise wavelengths of light deep into the skin, where they activate your cells’ own repair and regeneration processes from the inside out.
No downtime, discomfort, or UV exposure. You lie there feeling deeply relaxed while your skin cells quietly go into overdrive. It’s the closest thing to multitasking without lifting a finger.
What’s happening at a cellular level
When light energy from the Healite II reaches your skin, it’s absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy-producing engine inside each cell. Once activated, those cells ramp up their output: producing collagen and elastin, generating new skin cells, calming inflammation, and accelerating the healing process.
That’s what makes LED so valuable in a treatment plan – the effects last long after your session ends. You’ve triggered a cellular response, so your skin continues to repair and regenerate well beyond the clinic door. Your therapist isn’t just giving you a nice moment under a warm light. They’re switching on a process that compounds over time.
Three wavelengths, three different jobs
Our Healite II uses three targeted wavelengths, each reaching different depths within the skin and addressing different concerns.
Blue light (415nm) targets the bacteria responsible for acne breakouts. It works by destroying excess P. acnes bacteria on the skin’s surface, the same bacteria that, when overpopulated, trigger congestion and inflammatory acne. If your therapist has included blue light in your plan, it’s because they’re working to control breakout activity at the source.
Red light (633nm) is the collagen and elastin builder. This wavelength stimulates production of new collagen and elastin fibres, making it effective for fine lines, skin laxity, scarring, and texture concerns.
Yellow light (830nm) is the recovery wavelength. It calms inflammation, reduces bruising, accelerates wound healing, and supports the skin barrier after more intensive procedures. This is the one your therapist will most often recommend post-treatment, and it’s also beneficial for inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema.
Why your LUSH therapist builds it into your plan
Healite II doesn’t compete with your core treatments. It supports them. When it’s paired with treatments like HydraFacial or peels, it enhances results and calms inflammation so your skin gets more out of every session. Between courses of more intensive treatments like laser resurfacing or regeneration, it keeps your skin progressing, building collagen and supporting recovery so you’re in the best possible condition for your next phase of treatment.
As a standalone course, it builds cumulative results over time: stronger collagen, calmer skin, improved texture, and a more resilient complexion. It’s one of those treatments that doesn’t announce itself with dramatic peeling or visible downtime, but six weeks into a consistent course, your skin is telling a very different story.
It’s also completely safe during breastfeeding, making it one of the few advanced treatment options available to clients in that stage of life.
The details
A Healite II session takes between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the concern being treated. Your skin is cleansed and prepped beforehand, and afterwards, your therapist will apply targeted serums and SPF to finish. It’s suitable for all skin types, fits into a lunch break, and pairs with almost everything on the LUSH treatment menu.
So next time you see Healite II on your plan, know that your therapist has put it there for a reason. It’s not a bonus extra, but a deliberate part of your skin’s long-term strategy, and one of the smartest investments in your treatment journey.
